Prevention Tips

These hitchhiking pests can be difficult to eradicate, so it’s best to take precautions to prevent an infestation in the first place! To avoid bringing bed bugs home with you, make sure to do the following:

Prevention Tip #1

Inspect second-hand furniture carefully before bringing it inside. Look closely at the seams, cracks, and crevices for any signs of bed bugs, such as small reddish-brown bugs, shed skins, or tiny dark spots.

Prevention Tip #2

Inspect your hotel room for signs of bed bugs when traveling, especially the mattress and headboard. Keep your luggage in the entryway, off the bed or carpet, while you inspect the room.

Prevention Tip #3

Once home from a trip, unpack your bags in a laundry room or garage area rather than directly in your bedroom. Wash all clothing in hot water and dry on high heat to kill any hidden bugs.

If you think you may have bed bugs, don’t wait!

Contact a pest control professional. Once this pest has infested your home, it can be difficult to eradicate and requires the expertise of a professional.
